About us

The SARD team, for the last five years, has engaged in training activities for strengthening institutional capacities for the promotion of agricultural processes to support sustainable livelihoods of rural communities. A high number of stakeholders has been mobilised in processes for the collection and generation of valuable information on sustainable agriculture and rural development.

The Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development platform initiative stems from a shared need expressed by those participating in our SARD training courses of capitalizing on the amount of information exchanged and knowledge acquired, including a significant number of individual experiences in different countries and rural contexts.

In order to promote the importance of social capital and, at the same time, favour networking among all the SARD operators collaborating with us in several project activities, we were all trying to identify a simple and accessible mechanism allowing:

  • Information access;
  • Dialogue and information exchange;
  • Experiences and best practices collection concerning sustainable rural livelihoods;
  • Joint activities promotion.

We all acknowledge the importance of keeping and fostering linkages that can trigger off synergies among different experiences in order to support some initiatives at local, country or regional level.
The SARD platform is intended both as a learning support to the training course and a communication and networking facility.
